I keep meaning to post these pictures

Not sure if everyone has heard of this or not - but here are the pictures of our Church building burning down about a month ago - like i said i have been meaning to post these pictures. It was crazy to watch. I can now say i have escaped a burning building. It was during stake conference and we made it to the 2nd talk when the fire alarm went off - we all just kind of rolled our eyes and looked around - then you could notice as everyone started to smell something funny in the air we all stood up and moved towards the doors. I exited the front of the chapel form the fire exit and looked up at the edge of the roof and there were flames and smoke billowing from the roof - we all started to realize this was for real. The pictures proceed to tell the rest of the story.

My favorite part of the day were first when the fireman were trying to get the hose into the front door and it was obviously crazy heavy and there were only 2 trucks there at this point and he looked at all of us and asked can i get two or three of you to help; that was all he needed to say - not even 5 seconds later there were at least 25 men in suits pulling the hose into the front door of the church. 2nd were the greatness of the neighboring churches - they were so lovely and Christian - offering a place to wait, to give us a comforting arm and to mourn the historic building we called home.

I must give some props to my blackberry curve - it took all these pictures and for being a phone's camera i must say the pictures are pretty good!

They concluded it was an electrical fire that started in the attic above the balcony in the chapel with some exposed wires and had been festering for awhile before any fire alarms went off.

It was quite the Sunday and certainly something i won't forget anytime soon!

EGYPT TRIP part 2

Last thing on the Agenda for the day were the Giza Pyramids WHICH ARE AMAZING!!!!! The Great Pyramid is here (there is only one) - we rode camels (for 3 hours - i don't recommend this - it hurts - well it is fun so do it if you want to :)). Here is where i can show you how HUGE these structures are - so you can see 3 large pyramids and 3 small ones - the pyramid i climb on is one of the small pyramids - so you can see the comparison of all of them. Also where i did the cheesy pictures - but hey how many times are you standing in front of the Pyramids!
We rode the camels around the area - then headed over to the Sphinx - which i had heard wasn't impressive - but i think it is very impressive it is all one piece of stone, it is just that the great pyramids are right there behind it - so of course it looks smaller.

After that we convinced our guide to talk to the guards and let us stay in the area and watch the sunset - it was beautiful!

After this we went back to the Hostel and got "directions" to a restaurant - we never found the restaurant - but we found something else later quite a bit later - it was good food - but we had a diet coke with every meal to make sure to kill off any bacteria that may be consumed :).

4th day
We were on our own for this day - all we had to do was get on the train at 8pm to head down to Luxor. So we took off.
We went and purchased our Sleeping train tickets, we got those it was a very interesting method - but we didn't argue we were just glad to get tickets. We then headed off to the Citadel to see the view and the mosque of Mohammad Ali. It was beautiful and very interesting we got a tour from a Muslim woman and she shared a little about her beliefs. As we were walking around there were several teenagers around and i had a Egyptian 14 year old boyfriend for about 1/2hour - they love long hair and i guess my hair in braids wasn't "put back" enough - so they kept taking pictures and following us around - they were cute and very innocent so it was fine.

We then decided to walk to Sultan Hussan's mosque which seemed close enough and it was but getting back to downtown was a little more complicated - we ended up taking a taxi for 10 EL back to the Egyptian Museum - which was so fun and crazy some of the loot collected. King Tut's death mask was probably the most beautiful thing i have seen in forever - it was just so exquisite!
After the Egyptian Museum we headed back to the Hostel and rushed to the train station - we didn't plan too well in how much time to give, but we ended up having plenty of time. When we got to the train station we weren't sure who to get around, everything was in Arabic (go figure) but we found a tour guide who was willing to help us know which train to get on - so nice.

The train ride was another experience as well - we had a private compartment for the two of us - which was nice. Dinner was provided and as they were serving our meal they opened our doors and we met the guys who were in the compartment next to us - they were two nice Australian guys who were traveling to Aswan and then over the Red Sea to do scuba diving tour. We could see into each other's compartments and when they were unfolding our beds we started to talk - we ended up going to the club car and talking stories and playing cards until 2 in the morning - too bad we got into Luxor (our stop) at 6 in the morning :). It was fun to meet some guys traveling around in a similar style to us. Always fun to meet new people!

EGYPT TRIP part 1

1st day
Left Boston Thursday after work direct flight to Madrid
2nd day
Madrid - went to Rembrandt Exhibit at the Museo El Prado - it was a great exhibit!
Fun to stop in Madrid - it was really quite warm - the sun was out and just a nice afternoon.
We got lunch in a pub and headed back to the airport to catch our flight to Egypt.
Landed in Egypt really late - got our stamps in our passports and found out ride to our Hostel.
The guys who run the Hostel were so great - so friendly and really helpful - that night they set up a driver for the next day to take us to the Pyramids and around Cairo.
The driver was coming at 8 and so we took showers and hit the sack (after all it was after midnight).
3rd day
woke up around 7:30AM (hello it was a GO vacation)

8AM headed off with our driver Kahlead - we first headed out to Dashur; on the way we saw the Bent Pyramid.
Dashur was probably my favorite experience of the trip - we had been in Egypt for less than 12 hours and we climbed down 70meters at a 45 degree incline that was only about 4 feet tall (lets just say it was a crazy thigh workout!) When we got down to the bottom we found only one couple down in chamber - they left a few min later and then it was just Amy and I - we wanted to take a picture but of course it wasn't aloud - so we respected that - but it was so fun to be alone in the pyramid especially as the first pyramid we were at :).

Next on the agenda was Suqqra - the Step pyramids - they were very cool as well - they have recently found a new pyramid site - so that was fun to see the start of exploring a new site.
At the same site is the tomb of Mere-ruka - first real experience with hieroglyphics
Next stop on the Agenda was really on our Driver's agenda not so much ours (but they want us to spend money at their buddies/family shops along the way) so we went to a Carpet "School" (but they pay them to go to school - so more like child labor that they call school - kind of sad - didn't take any pictures though).
Next stop was the Papyrus store - and yes i bought some - i am a total sucker for these sort of things, but i am excited about it - so i have a Egyptian Calender on Papyrus - yippeee!

I'm Back

Sorry for the lack of posting, but i think i have a very good reason :). I was in Egypt for the past week and half - i will post pictures and stories as soon as i find time, it is crazy trying to get caught up with everything and everyone and enjoy the holiday season!!!

I will post within the next week pictures and stories to go along with it. Here is an Internet preview - the pyramids blew my mind - just loved them!!!

What do you make of Dreams - do you remember all, some or none. How do you take the ones you remember - especially when they leave an impression?

I am one that wakes up normally without much of a dream - maybe a "that was weird" feeling or "what was that" or "where did that come from" however i have had several dreams over the years that mean more (so i think) it seems if i can recall more "facts" obviously i can think about things a little more - but usually i forget them before noon - but like i was saying there were a few i still remember.

I also have my reoccurring nightmare - i have it roughly once a month and have for years - i haven't linked it to anything that happens when i am awake...yet - but it has defiantly progressed over the years. Some of the details change and all the other characters change and don't really have names - but the idea is the same and i still do the same thing. Setting is a large old style boat (like a pirate boat) with a huge main mast in the middle of the blue large ocean. The other people on the boat are usually people i know well (or at least that is the feeling). Someone who can't swim or who is a weak swimmer always falls into the water and i am on the top of the main mast in the bird perch thing and i see a large shark in the near distance - so i dive into the water to help and as i do i see the shark increase its speed because of the sound of something new in the water. I get the person onto the ladder of the boat they are always slow in climbing up. I grab a hold of the ladder and start pulling myself up the boat - but of course the shark comes and grabs me - this is where the dream has progressed at first i would wake up with knowing the shark was about to bite and pull me down but now in the dream i get bit and dragged down to the point of darkness which is where i now wake up. Everytime i have the dream i think to myself interesting.

Crazy how our imaginations work?

This year Halloween has been quite the crazy time - so much that i planned a pumpkin carving activity for FHE but didn't actually carve one. Luckily work had a pumpkin carving contest - yippee!!!!

Jocelyn, Sylwia and I were in charge of coming up with the idea for our department- so we brainstormed for a couple of days - we thought we should keep it in the theme of our department so we were thinking either a scary bride or a wedding cake. Jocelyn was pretty excited about the wedding cake idea (it was hers :)) so she said she would go home over the weekend and practice just to see if it could be done. She comes back on Monday with a small pumpkin that despite its moldiness (not her fault) resembled a tiered cake. So it was decided.

Tuesday (the carving day) came around and Sylwia brought in some black and white beads and ribbon to do the trimming and that afternoon we went to work - originally i thought i would have little to do with the actual carving - but lets be honest i want to win so the more hands getting it done the better, right?

Wednesday I brought in spiders and spider web and a light up stick thing to put inside - we just loved it - during the process other keep saying it didn't look like a cake or it didn't look very good - well lets see who gets the last laugh now - hehe - just kidding i just think we should win!

Oh and Thursday the last and final touch came the Cake topper - we wanted to get a topper with the corpse bride - but no such luck in such short time.

As you can see i was quite involved - hehe

The guests' are voting for their favorite yesterday and today - cross your fingers we want to win - we think we get lunch or a party or something like that - but really it is just about bragging rights :).

Paul Newman was a great actor, a unusually faithful man and on top of it all incredibly good looking :)!

Paul Newman, legendary actor, businessman, and race car driver died at his farmhouse near Westport, Connecticut, after a long battle with cancer.
Even for a movie star he was uncommonly handsome and charismatic. And yet, somehow, Paul Newman defied the odds. He was a good man.
Born in 1925 in Shaker Heights, Ohio, Newman was the son of a Catholic mother and Jewish father who ran a successful sporting goods operation. Splitting the difference with dad, Newman always described himself as a Jew but credited the idea of a life in sporting goods for his interest in acting. After his discharge from the Navy in 1946, he studied drama at Yale before making his way to the famed Actors’ Studio in New York where he was trained in the vaunted method style of acting by the legendary Lee Strasberg.
But for all his legendary screen performances and awards, nothing was more impressive than Paul Newman the man. Before it became chic, when it could hurt a star’s career, Newman was out there in the early 1960s with Charlton Heston, Marlon Brando, and Rev. Martin Luther King marching for civil rights. A lifelong liberal, Newman, unlike too many of today’s stars, didn‘t trash the other side. Instead, he was a proponent, an advocate, and — more importantly — one who put his money where his mouth was.
The most legendary thing about Newman, however, was his marriage of fifty years to Joanne Woodward, an Academy Award winning actress in her own right. Once asked how he managed to stay faithful, Newman replied, “Why go out for hamburger, when you got steak at home.” It says a lot about man who talks about his wife in such ways. I am joining in the blogging world to discuss (ever so slightly) politics. But first can i point out in the background of this pictures - does anyone else think the guy in the suit on the right side of the picture look like Bill Clinton - that was the first thing i thought. I know it can't be (we would have heard it if Clinton was at the Convention) but doesn't he look just like him.

I don't want to get into the politics argument - so i won't really - but i did think Palin's speech last night was well delivered and good - i can't compare it to Obama's because i didn't hear his - but i have heard others say it was comparable in charisma. I think people who say McCain choosing her was rash decision took that back (at least a little) last night. Yes, i will admit her experience is weak (i am not 100% for or against i am just stating what i am observing) - but i think she is an intelligent woman who will support McCain and compliment his skills nicely. I think her investment in Alaska and knowledge of the oil industry will be a good push to seriously look into alternative energy options - which is a big issue.
Immigration - well lets admit that isn't the deciding factor for either candidate - considering both want to put a 700mile fence along the border of Mexico (does this sound stupid or like a waste of money to anyone other than me). Economics - none of the candidates know what to do with a natural fall in the economy (because it HAS to happen) but i would like to know what economic advisers each would bring into office -because they are the ones that know what they are talking about and will affect how and when the turn will take place - but i guess i will always agree to putting money back into the economy by creating jobs and helping business through tough times instead of different programs - to simply give money out. The war - i am very hesitant to say much - but progression is being made - good is happening (we know this because of the reports and the fact that the media is so quiet about it right now) - how could we just pull out now - why would we waste these past years and money by not accomplishing the task at hand when it is so close.

So much for not really getting into politics - but i am trying to keep it mellow and trying to really get an opinion this time around not that it really matters my state would be blue without any campaigning - but i want to be able to say i voted even if it doesn't make a difference - so what did you think of the Palin's speech last night?

Opening Kick off - look at the little men - love it and THEM! You can see the lighthouse on the other side of the stadium - I must say it was pretty distracting as well as the Cheerleaders - but that is for another day :).
The Gillette Screen - it is so fun to be in the stadium!
I don't know why but it seems like things like this happen to me often, but when i sat down there was this little treat on the ledge directly in front of me - it was ironic because we were playing the ravens (a little morbid -but i didn't do it - i just found it).
Me - we were up high - but they were good seats look how pretty the field is :)- we did think about going down closer (the stadium was probably only 1/3 full)- but we were good where we were.

So this past weekend was a fun and long holiday weekend! Thursday I worked a 1/2 day and then headed over to the hatch shell to see the rehearsal show of the Pops and rascal flats - we had great seats! My camera is broken - so i have to rely on others pictures - so maybe i will update this post later with more personal pictures (instead of what i can find on the Internet). It did rain crazy like for about 15 mins - so we just stood up and made a tent with our blankets - it worked pretty well considering the situation :) - we weren't very good at the whole planning thing!

Friday - we had high expectations for the weather regardless of the weather predictions - but for once the weather man was right on and it was cloudy, rainy and gross almost all day! So instead of hitting a beach we went and got brunch at the ball street cafe - it was quite good - and i love being a girl and getting free stuff! The owner thought he knew me from somewhere and gave us a plate of lovely fruit - loved it. Next ran some errands, went home napped a little and went over to Spencer's house he has a great view of the river and the fireworks. Even though he had an awesome view - Lina, Merrit, Rachel and I decided to go down to the river to watch - there is something about feeling the explosions and being around all sorts of people that make for an amazing firework show! It was amazing this year - lots of new technology - so FUN!

Saturday - Again we had high hopes for the weather - needless to say i think it is the first time the weather man has predicted two days in a row accurately! I started off the day running (like a crazy person) with a new friend - the guy that makes the ice cream at Christina's - he is this crazy runner - runs 6min miles for 20 miles - i said crazy and i meant it! Nicky started talking about running with him a few weeks back and last weekend we went with him for the first time - it was a great run - but this weekend it was just me and him and HOLY CRAP he kicked my butt! It was a great run - we did 7 miles in an hour and maybe 5mins - for me that is awesome! He is so nice - b/c the whole time we were running he was like you are ready for races - you can certainly qualify for the Boston marathon - i will help you train - so inspirational - so we will see how dedicated i get about this! After the run Lina, Merrit and I ignored the weatherman and attempted the beach - we lasted maybe a half hour - maybe. It was cold didn't even take of my shirt and shorts. Instead we went over to the Flour (famous bakery in Boston thanks to the Food Network and Rachel Ray) - it was good - we didn't get sticky buns - but the sandwiches were good! Later we went to see Get Smart - really fun movie- laughed the whole time unless i was being grossed out (only happened twice - the rat scene and the vomit scene - just too much for me :))

Sunday was a lovely relaxing day - went to church and went home to relax and take a nap - feel asleep while Harry Potter was on and woke up to go have dinner with Chelsea (amazing bbq chicken!) played a couple rounds of liars dice and original Super Mario Brothers (that's right original).

So last night was another great night for Boston Sports - the Celtics killed the Lakers in game 6 - so fun!!!!

I have loved the Celtics since I was a little girl watching Larry Bird play - I remember just loving him and the whole team (and in a girly way - I really like the Celtics green - but only slightly the focus :))!

Sports up here have been particularly fun to root for this past year or so - when teams are winning it is easy to love them!

Here are some pictures of the post celebration - just a glimpse at the craziness that assuredly happened - probably to the point of not wanting to see - but here is the fun beginning - hehe!

SKYDIVING

So this weekend I went skydiving! It is just so much fun!!! I told my instructor(Tom) I had been before and since I was surprisingly calm; I got to do some fun stuff - we did flips out the plan, i got to pull the cord for the parachute to open and help control the turning and landing - so so so so sosossososososo FUN!!! I was last on our flight to jump - so i saw everyone falling out of the plane - it was wicked cool! There isn't a lot of waiting around which is probably a better thing- you get up there they open the door and you all jump within a 5min time period. Because i was the last one out I got to see everyone else's parachutes opening. After a few mins Tom pointed out one of the chutes being a reserve - we came to the ground and realized it was Nicky - she told us the story of how their main chute floated past and they got to do a second free fall (she thought it was a little treat - b/c the free falling is the shortest part - so a little extra never hurt - right.). We started talking to the guys about getting certified so to be able to jump yourself - I am seriously considering it - i want to get certified in Scuba Diving and now Skydiving - I am realizing I like extreme things - it just makes life so much more exciting! Anyone game to keep up?

THE START OF A WHOLE WEEK'S WORTH OF CELEBRATION

So this weekend I started celebrating my birthday - so fun! A few friends and I went down to Martha's Vineyard aka the Vineyard or if you are like me you know it as Amity (hehe). We got up super early (for a Saturday) and drove to the ferry - about an hour and half away. The weather was projected to be in the 90s in Boston and mid to high 80s at the vineyard - but in the morning it was still a chilly 60 - we all dressed for 80s and lets say we were considering a purchase of a cheap sweatshirt of some sort as we waited for the ferry - but luckily as soon as we "landed" it was beautiful weather!

One of the guys who worked on the ferry asked us what our plans were and we chatted with him - we were looking to see some reminisce of Jaws filming but he said we wouldn't find much - but he had been on the island when it was filmed back in 74 and he said the shark was too real - it changed the ocean for him from then on. He was very nice and promised to give us the hook up if/when we returned - to just call ahead - i love it!

The plan was to rent bikes and bike around the island - but first we wanted to get a snack - we went to this little restaurant and got pulled pork sandwiches and soft-shell crab sandwiches (featured on $40 a day with Rachel Ray) - it was a great little place and the food hit the spot.

Next stop rent bikes - and we were off we started in Oaks Bluff (where Jaws was filmed) and headed towards Edgartown - it was awesome - it was so so so beautiful the towns were quaint, the water was awesome, the company was splendid and the weather just topped it off. We found a great beach and hung out for a little.

The ferry left at 5:15p and the day just flew by and we headed back up to Boston - we got back and the weather was 97 can you believe it! We went to my recently discovered FAVORITE restaurant (you know it is bad when the waiter knows you - he is such a nice guy though) it is in Davis Sq Martsa on Elm - it is a Tibetan place - and it is so cute - the decor and the food is awesome.

Then we headed back to the apartment where Nicky gave me my birthday present (so we could watch it if we so desired) can you guess what it was - Jaws (the original) -i love this movie - i think i will forever scream when i watch it - forever! I would just like to point out it is only PG and i can't really believe that - but i love it none the less.

Oh and Jaws trivia - Steven Spielberg was only 26 when he filmed Jaws - CRAZY!

Also when we got back - Carolina and Chelsea made cupcakes and decorated them with some awesome frosting! SO GREAT!!!

I just got these pictures from my trip to Florida - Nicky and i went to Typhoon Lagoon one day and had an underwater camera - We snorkled with SHARKS and Sting Rays - it wasn't dangerous - they weren't bigger than 5ft - but it was fun!

SUMMER Movies

What is it about summer that makes going to the movies irresistible! I have certainly caught that bug this year! So here are some recommendations -

IRON MAN ROCKED MY WORLD!!!!! I had very low, no wait, i had NO expectations when i went to see it the first time (that's right i saw it more than once, three times actually) and there were like 10 people in the theater at the max - Nicky and i just got back from the water park in Florida and decided to try and catch a movie. We had popcorn a drink and were both so surprised by how fun it was. I strongly recommend seeing this if you haven't already - go in thinking it will be fun and that Robert Downey Jr. is FINE and you should enjoy it - oh and expect some fun blowing up scenes! (very deep movie - there is also a political stand taken - but try to not let that get in the way (i am always bugged when Hollywood tries to put their political spin on things whether i agree or not))

BABY MOMMA! Another movie I didn't expect to love. It was hilarious and really quite clean! I was so surprised - but i heard it was clean and funny, so i went with unknown expectations - Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are hilarious as always - great laugh! Predictable ending, but fun.

CHRONICLES OF NARNIA PRINCE CASPIAN. I actually really liked it; i thought it was better than most second movies out there and i just love the story! I just saw this one two days ago - so i am still letting it settle in, but i did really like it and thought it was fun.

INDIANA JONES. Well, Harrison Ford still has it. The rest of the acting was pretty weak - and the writing seemed too fake for my liking. The old Indiana movies you could follow along with figuring out of the riddles where this time it felt like it was too ahhahish (if you understand that - maybe the word for it is coincidental (not that all movies aren't, but i like it to FEEL believable)). The action scenes were still really fun; the sci-fi theme/twist at the end was a little weird for me - but that is just personal; overall i would say fun, but seeing it once is enough.

Here are some to be excited about:

THE HAPPENING. I know it is going to be R, but it is M. Night Shyamalan - and he is an absolutely amazing director! The trailers, let alone his reputation, have sparked way to much interest in me to not at least attempt it.

THE DARK KNIGHT AKA BATMAN!!!! I don't think anyone can not be excited about this one; plus it will be interesting to see Heath Ledger in one of his last movies. It does look dark - so we will see.

HANCOCK Don't know much about this one, but Will Smith is so fun to watch and the trailer i saw looked good.

THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE It will be interesting to see this back again

HELL BOY II Please don't judge me, but i kind of want to see this too. Maybe i am just too into comic book characters :).

OK so my list can keep going but I will stop with July.

There is one more movie that has intrigued me; mainly because it is one of the scariest things I can actually think of happening. It is a honest to goodness horror movie; called the Strangers, and it opens this weekend. The trailers scare me and get my heart racing. I wouldn't be able to go to this one even if it weren't R (the theme is too real), it seems just that haunting/evil - i would say check it out, but why would i do that to you - more or less I am warning you :).

What defines me and you

I have been thinking recently what am i passionate about - i have friends who have their "thing" what is my "thing"?

I have always loved the ocean and all its creatures especially sharks - but i get sea sick and am not a huge science person i just find it fascinating- although i think i am going to certify in scuba this summer just so i can always have the option.

Always love cultural events - such as dancing, musicals, and musuems- danced growing up and enjoy going dancing every now and then (i am grateful to be able to hear a beat)- but not a talent i really am taking anywhere. Art always loved art class and still use it to release - but again where am i going to take that skill.

The stars have always been something that intrigues me - hello i went to space camp - but again not huge with science classes (although i loved my astronomy class -back in the day)

Within the past 5 years or so i have really started to love running - but don't aspire to be amazing at it or reach any record but to keep enjoying it.

Enjoy fashion - but think there needs to be limits in spending and it actually bugs me when i get consumed with material things.

Of coures i am all about Football - but i am chick - and it isn't more than something i enjoy and look forward to the season of (don't get me wrong some years i have gotten a little more out of control than others).

I love to travel - but it isn't what i think about myself when people ask me what my passion is - i just love going places - and right now in my life why wouldn't i travel (i think my next location may be Egypt and or Isreal but we will see).

I really like trying new food and cooking - I'm not a chef or a foodie; but i think it is fun and i especially like to stretch my ability even if it takes me 2 hours to make one thing

I do love being outside - and am trying to appreciate all the seasons and enjoy being outside in all of them (i have spring, summer and fall down - i just need to work on winter - hence the snowboard - hopefully that will keep the winter blues away a little better)

Do you see the confusion I really like a lot of things, but what is it that makes me tick i will keep trying to figure it out and will keep you posted on what i find - how do you all define yourself?

I got this mass email today and I have seen some of these pictures and heard about some of the crazy things people do for fashion - but this is just too much.

Japanese fashion right now (supposedly - i want to not believe it - but the end pictures lead me to believe otherwise). It is like being on pointe all day - only not - no thank you!

I guess if this is your country's history of shoe fashion - the above look like slippers comparatively or at least your feet won't be completely deformed - ekk!

My two roommates and one of our friends are going down to Orlando!!! We are all so so so excited, it will be so much fun! The goal is RELAX, play, have fun, but most importantly get some SUN and serious color - i better come back tan(er) or i might be tempted to move back to Hawaii where i know i can always have color ;).

I will post about it when i return, but this is the hotel we are staying at - we got a serious hook up with my job, it is nice to work for a hotel company (sometimes) - SO NICE!

So today is an absolutely gorgeous New England Day - in fact it is an absolute gorgeous anywhere day!

Today for lunch i went outside and ate - i of course sat in the sun and thourghly enjoyed being hot! I had short sleeves on and i am pretty sure i got some sun, it was out for about 45 mins so hopefully if i can do this on a regular basis i will be able to get some sun (on my arms at least) this summer - YEAH!

If you are wondering what my title means, i just thought it was curious that my last post was about being excited for snow and winter again and then i go an write about how excited i am for it to be warm and sunny - i just had to laugh about what a walking contradition i really am with almost everything.

In all honesty i love all seasons for whatever reason (fall still reigns as the winner); but there is something "special" about spring and the excitment for summer - everyone is happier, smiling and ready to play (including myself). Maybe it is engrained in us to love summer from when we were kids and got summer vacations - oh to have summer vacation again!

I was catching up on some blogs and Autumn has added this awful awful and completly embarassing picture of me from the early 90s. SO i decided to post it on my blog (go figure). These are 3 of my dearest friends growing up - we even made up a nicname for our group of friends - are you ready for it BUBS (German for Choice variety of Babe (and yes i still remember this - silly girls we were)) we felt that it was very very fitting. :) Little did i know how much i was awkwardly not at that stage of my life. Oh well. As we get older i guess we are just able to accept our awkwardness and weaknesses and make improvements since THAT time in our lives.
In my defense of me in this picture (if there can be any) I think we were at my house and i was probably painting - we were doing the very stylish rag affect on the walls in my brothers room - i am pretty sure...

or maybe it is to buy or not to buy - I want to buy a snowboard and all the gear, it is the best time to do it because everything is on sale - but it is still quite expensive...My roommate says if i want we can design the art on my snowboard and she would paint it, so i don't really care too much about the look of the board, because custom trumps all, but everything just adds up so quickly - but here is what i am feeling. :) The GRAND TOTAL for all is about $400 - but every time i go it is at least $70 to rent - so i would just need to use my stuff 6 times it makes up for the price.

As you can probably tell my pants are brown and my jacket is blue, so i might as well go with what i already have. It is a good combo:)

Ice Cream You Scream

So today at lunch they had ice cream bars, I hadn't had ice cream in awhile so I took one. Now I feel a little ill; this has happened frequently when I have had ice cream in the past few years and recently I have started to think it wasn't because I ate too much ice cream, but instead that maybe I might (as awful as it sounds) be allergic to ice cream!!! So sad, because for as long as I can remember I would always say the one thing I couldn't live without was ice cream. I don't think it is all dairy because I can drink milk, love cheese etc, but their must be something else about ice cream that my body has started to reject. Frozen yogurt seems to be ok (at least last time I had some, last fall); so I guess I will have to stick with stuff that is close, but not as rich. Sad day, this probably wont make me stop eating ice cream all together, but will definately make me think not only twice but 3 times about how good is the ice cream and is it worth feeling a little ill for an afternoon or night. Have any of you had similar things happen, maybe not with ice cream but other things you love?

Just a little update, I have officially accepted a new job. My last day in my current position is January 29th; and I start at the new property February 18th after I return from Cambodia. The position is one of two Senior Event Manager positions. I will be moving up into the management position I have been looking to get into with my current employer only a faster opportunity and at a larger property. I will be managing the groups who will be staying with our property and holding meetings in our meeting space. Like I said it is a larger property so I am really excited about the change and upcoming challenges of relearning and growing. Let me know if you need anything in this area that I might be able to help with.

My sister Deb tagged me to do another random blog, I know I am random, but I am also spontaneous, hence it taking a week or so to respond; sorry Deb :)

Random numero uno - Green is my favorite color.

2 - I have strong opinions about Animals being treated like humans; for example a dog or cat riding an airplane; I saw a dog being "walked" at the airport over the holidays. I think this bothers me the most because I am extremely allergic to cats and dogs affect me. And I know there are people out there more sensitive or allergic than I am. When someone is allergic to peanuts we can barely bring something with nuts on board, but it is ok to have your cat or dog riding around the sky no problems...sounds a little wrong.

3 - Screening phone calls - I do it, so do 99.98% of the rest of the cell phone population. When did this become OK. How did this become OK. Don't get me wrong I am really glad it is accepted (when i do it of course, but only me), but is that what is happening every time someone doesn't answer or do you not think that way? As if our population's self esteem couldn't get lower...we can't even make a phone call without feeling rejected before the fear was only once someone picked up. :)

4 - ADDICTION - I have a few addictions (at least that i am willing to admit ;)) 1 splurging whether it be on nice clothes, food, or kitchen gadgets i just think it is fun. 2 chic flicks I can watch chic flicks all day long, all weekend long. I watched Jane Austen's Persuasion yesterday - I LOVED IT, so good, i was just giddy when i started it...it was just funny how excited I got.

5 - FAVORITE OFFICE GADGET NAME - The staple taker outer, you know what I am talking about; but what exactly is it called, hummm try thinking of the real name...no clue.

6 - I am looking to buy a new car and I think I really like the FORD Escapes 2004 -2006, what do you think, any opinions? If you had $10000 - $15000 to spend on a newer car what would you choose (good snow ability is so important considering there is about 8 to 10 inches outside right now)

7 - I bought my ticket to CAMBODIA from January 30th - February 12th - I am SO SO SO excited! Can't wait to visit Asia, it will be so interesting to see. Yeah for different Cultures

Christmas and Les Miserable

Christmas I went home to Ohio; almost all of my family went to my parents house even though they weren't there. It was a weird Christmas to not have my parents there; but they are doing something so good where they are at. We definitely missed Mom's cooing and attention and Dad's laughter. It was weird to go home this time; as i was running doing errands it was the first time i felt like i was an honest visitor. That is my home town; but that isn't where I live; I have moved away for a long enough period of time that where i am at is my "home", kind of a weird realization.

For Christmas I bought Shawn and I tickets to go see Les Miserable on Broadway this past weekend (I thought it would be fun to go see something on Broadway and then i found out that Les Miz was leaving Broadway so I hurried up and just bought great seats for that show instead of consulting :) ) it turned out to be so great. The seats were great, the theatre was so fun (really small and very intimate); the actors voices were absolutely AMAZING the Jean Val Jean and Eponie were my favorites; but they were all wonderful!!! So i have finally lived that dream too; seeing Les Miserables on Broadway, check! Oh and Shawn liked it too (since it was actually "his" Christmas present) so that was fun. ;)

New York was absolutely crazy! Last time i went down there i thought there were a lot of people, but that was nothing compared to this trip; as we were walking around it seemed like we were being herded like cattle; I don't know if I could ever live in that city, but I guess I would get use to it. It was fun to go to Rockefeller Center and see the tree and to walk along 5th Ave and see the window displays and see time square getting all decked out for New Year's Eve...glad I am not going to be there tonight for it all, but fun to see it before the absolute craziness takes place.

So this week has been another roller coaster...Here are a few tid bits :)

Ok so this was last week; but I just wanted to share some pictures of the cute kids i got to play with at my brother's house; Abby and Peter are growing up so fast; they are both such people and defiantly have their own personalities!

Sunday was my roommate's birthday!!! Happy Birthday Day Nickers!!!! She is so FABULOUS!!!

Work is crazy with getting ready for the big change over next Wednesday! I don't know if i have mentioned, the hotel i work at has been sold and well it is a bit of an ugly turnover. Not sure if this is normal or if the new company really is that "ify"; I guess we will see.

Tuesday I watched The Hills; I can't help but watch this show, for some reason i just love it; i call it my guilty pleasure; it is pretty much a reality soap opera. Good thing it is only 30mins and since i usually watch it the next day (it is a monday night show)i can fast forward through commercials and have it work with my schedule and it ends up only being 15mins of actual show. But one of the great things about this show is the music, this past week they played an artist i didn't know so i looked her up on ITUNES and now i love her (A Fine Frenzy) the song that caught my attention is 'Almost Lover'; check her out.

Wednesday we went to dinner at a fun little Asian noddle restaurant and then frozen yogurt shoppe (literally frozen yogurt); it was pretty YUMMY and great company!!! I love good friends!

Also on Wednesday i found out some very sad news; my cat that i have had for almost 20years died; her old body just couldn't take another cold winter. I loved Frisky; she was/is the reason why i love cats so much - even if they do make me break out in hives, my throat swells close and my eyes uncontrollably water. She was such a good cat. My sister and niece saw her Tuesday and played/loved with her a little; and then they found her on Wed. so i am really glad she didn't suffer a long time; considering last week she caught a mouse and seemed healthy.

Decided on Thursday that i want to learn how to quilt! The problem is the quilt i want to make is about as difficult as it gets; i saw it in the Pottery Barn catalog
Isn't that so pretty!

Tonight i am going to the Havard-Radcliffe Chorous 'The King Shall Rejoice'; my other roommate Christel is singing in the choir; it should be wonderful; I am going to say it again (i can't promise i won't say it again after this either) I love Christmas music and season.

Autumn tagged me to give 6 random tid bits; and Trina tagged me for 7, sorry for the slow response; things are a little crazy go nuts but here we go (although i don't know how much more random i can get :))

1. Dreams; who knows what they mean, but recently i have been having my reoccuring dreams and I was sharing them with some people at work where i found that most don't have dreams about animals. I almost always have a crazy dream about a shark, bear, wolf or the recent addition Alligator. In most the past most of my dreams were me being chased or attacked by the above animals where recently i am finally able to conquer them. hehe Yeah for dream victories!!!

2. Have you noticed certain stages when you pick up on a word and you can't seem to not use it; well i have been like that most of my life (at least what i can remember) right now it is crazy go nuts, boom baby, and lovely. But a few words went through this phase and have stuck and become quite an intimate part of my language namely blast and no touchy.

3. Can i just say i love going to the movies; there is something so fun about getting tickets and sitting a big theater to watch with a couple hundred other people or 10 depending on how long you wait after it is released. Either way i just love movies, last weekend i went to Dan in Real lifeI really liked it cute and funny; but more of a chick flick than i expected.

4. How much do i love my bed in the fall/winter months. It is just so so so nice to have a warm and comfy bed to sleep in. In the morning who wants to leave this

5. I love things that

sparkle...I just can't help it. I notice other people's sparkle it is one of the first things i notice on a person, does that make me shallow; i don't know... and i don't really care.

6. If you haven't watched Man vs Wild you are missing out!!!! Bear Grylls is AMAZING!!! I love him and the new season started up last friday; look for the new and old episodes on the Discover Channel.

7. The education conference went so well back in October and I never posted anything about it. Let me just say how blessed I feel having had the opportunity to work so closely with such wonderful people and seeing first handed how much the General Authorities love not only the members of the church; but all. Elder Holland couldn't have been kinder or more loving. It was a marvelous thing to witness.

In the first one the background laughing is almost as good as the confusion of the running!

The second makes me laugh so hard, can i just point out that he isn't chasing anything, all the cars are behind him, chasing him actually! Peer pressure is amazing...hehe

The third is just a classic example of what was going on throughout the entire night.

Last, i would like to point out the car, the lady thought there was a problem and started to stop to help but then realized that it was a viking running at her full speed ahead with some weapon, she then speeds up and zooms away leaving our friend in the dust... good times all night long!

This year for Halloween some of my friends and i went all out! We were joking a few weeks before about being Vikings, so well the joke moved forward and became a real costume. We bought some fabric to make dresses and some yards of fur to go all out with. As you can see it was pretty enjoyable! hehe

Here is another Russian story, but i will give an update on the Education conference from last weekend, sometime this week. Enjoy!

So this is pretty much the only picture I have for this story; but it is a good one so i think it deserves a full post all about it!

March 17th one of my favorite days of the year, why i don't know; but St. Patrick's Day is just such a fun holiday; hello it is an excuse to wear green and pinch people who aren't, what more could you want from a holiday (and yes i know that isn't what st. patty's day is to everyone else in the world but it is to me). So St. Patty's day comes and us girls decide we are going to celebrate the holiday by making a green dinner. So we prepped to make Green bilinis (Russian creps), with green apples and broccoli and other green food or food we could dye green. Well I got home from school before most of the other teachers and was getting things set up to start making dinner. One of the other teachers, Jenny came home 10 mins or so later and is all in a huff telling me there is something crazy going on outside. She asks me if i heard any screaming or anything, I didn't and she continues to tell me the following story: "There is a guy crawling along the (snow/ice covered)road outside and is screaming like he is in pain or something like that." I then proceed to go outside b/c i have to see this for my own eyes...hello a guy crawling down the main street of sosny screaming and no one is helping this is kind of crazy and a little communist sounding; so i peek my head out the apt building door to find at the end of the street an "ambulance" pushing a couple of guys into the vehicle and 2 or 3 other guys trying to pull him out of the vehicle and there being a huge struggle back and forth so i continue staring trying to figure out what is happening. As i watch the guys pulling one of the people out of the vehicle and is successful and then seeing them try and get the other guy out of the vehicle (i will continue to call it a vehicle b/c it wasn't a car, truck, van or suv...it was a mix of all, very efficient :)) i think to myself this can't actually be an ambulance or why would they be trying to get them out of it?! Oh through out this whole struggle the guys are scream and there is one voice that squeals as high pitch as a mans voice can get; but i am the only one watching this...so i decide if the Russian's aren't watching; it obviously isn't anything worthy of watching or just not a big deal, so i head back inside to get back to preparing the fantastic green food.

Jenny then has to go catch a bus to go into Moscow. She leaves and gets back about 15 mins later, explaining that the babuskas pushed her to the back of the line and she didn't feel like standing for the whole 30 min ride and that she would catch the next bus in. But then she proceeds to ask me if i knew who the guy was lying outside our door. I of course didn't and didn't even know there was a man lying outside our door. So i go to the peep hole to check it out, to find not only a man lying on the floor, but 2 other guys as well (these ones are mobile). They must of heard me or seen my shadow under the door, or my eye in the peephole b/c almost immdietly there was a knock at the door. I wasn't quite sure what to do and i believe i shrilled (like any girl would do) and ran away from the door. Jenny went to the door and i followed, she opened it and they immediatly start going off in Russian; we of course use our most common Russian phrase "i don't speak Russian" and get our english russian dictionary to have him translate to us what he is trying to say. He pushes the book away (not sure if it is b/c of the complicated orders or if the wording was too small for his very bloodshot eyes to focus on). He keeps pointing at his friend on the floor and doing all these motions (no clue what he was trying to guesture at (if there is anything i learned about in russia it was that getures are not a universal language ) so i go for the phone to have our Russian contact to talk with him so she can tell us what they are asking us. I get Julia on the phone and explain the situation; her response is like don't open the door. I say too late we already did; will you talk with them and tell us what they are trying to say. We give him our oh so new phone (not, it was a rotary phone from like 1982)and it didn't quite reach to outside the front door so he had to kind of come into our apt a little.

I get the phone back and Julia is laughing on the other end, they were asking us not to call the police on their buddy; that he was just really drunk and needed a place to sleep for a little while and that they would be back for him in a couple of hours. We tell them we wont call the the police and then the bolder looks at me and (points at me) says, "you girl (points at himself) me boy" at this i push him out the door and close it as i am saying "nyet". So we monitor the peephole through out the rest of the night; finding an interesting show of him taking his pants off peeing in the corner (mind you it is about 10 degrees out), really sanatary don't you think.

A couple of hours later the guy in our group (who lived upstairs) came over and saw that we had a box of chocolates and a Bunny shaped key holder outside our door and the guy was gone. So we decided we had Russian boyfriends, i mean they did buy us presents. hehehe

Angry Sosny Bunnies

So here is a randomness from my time in Russia. And when I say randomness i mean it; it has very little to do with Russia, except to show how excited we got to be able to be outside without snow and freezing to death! Being trapped up in our little, funky smelling, russian apartments; which i was so greatful for despite the terrible bed that almost broke my back.
Anyway there was a badmitten (spelling) (the Russian kids loved badmitten and would beg me to play with them as i would walk home from school, so every once in awhile i would play with them, i must say i was a natural ;) but that is another story) net set up one building over from ours that we took our volleyball to and would play. We had two apartments one for the Sosny school teachers (me) and one for the Kaptain school teachers; so that is why we played Sosny vs Kaptain. We challenged them to the game and little did they know we were going to bring it, we picked gray as our color (mainly b/c that was the only color all of us had to wear), our name was the Angry Sosny Bunnies b/c we were given a bunny key holder by some strange Russian men (but again story to be told at a later time.) and decided to put our hair in high pigtails So here are some pictures from our little games we played! hehe Enjoy

of course we lost the ball under the cars and why I (with my short arms) was retrieving it I will never know; but how could you resist taking a picture of a butt sticking straight up in the air! boom baby! :)

This is the Kaptain team, they were just happy to get a point :) (hey it is my blog)

After the games we would do as any other sport teams would do; run along the center of the "court" and high five the other team...

And here are the CHAMPIONS...the Angry Sosny Bunnies... pretty angry if i do say so myself; oh and we won every match; so I guess you could say we were the best! ;)

Russia Love

I was looking at "friend's" pictures on facebook (they are friends it is just funny using that term in conjunction with facebook) today and found some pictures of our time in Russia on a girls profile and started to think about my being there and wanted to share some stories and pictures. So for the next few blogs i am going to be reminiscing of Russia and my time spent there with all the crazies, cute kids and mind opening experiences. Hopefully you enjoy!

The big E

So last weekend I got to relive a part of my childhood...well sort of! Growing up every august there was a carnival/fair. I always wanted to go and it was so the cool place to be; hello there were rides, food, and people from other schools that you could "meet". Well this past weekend I went to a bigger and better fair than our little town ever put together it is called the BIG E. I really didn't know what i was getting into; all i knew was it sounded like a fair/carnival and i was stoked. This "fair" was enormous! It is pretty much a fair for the entire New England area and it has replicas of the state houses from all the different states. Inside these replicas they have different things that represent their state; but i think it is still all about the food, part of the "things" that represent their state are the choice treats of desire! SO good; although i don't recommend starting off with the Claim cakes they sit a little heavy and well lets just say you need a little time to digest especially when they hit an empty stomach.

Aside from these very cool state house replicas and representation of state pride, they had are you ready for this.... SHARKS!!! Random, but oh so lovely! They had Lemon sharks and Nurse Sharks, it was really cool to see Nurse sharks considering they are one of the species marine biologist are still exploring and know very little, thanks to technology this is changing but it was really neat to see them. Yes it was incredibly bizzar to see them at a fair, but as far as i am concerned you can't see sharks in a wrong place (except maybe when you are injured and swimming in the middle of the deep blue ocean without any form of a boat and you're bleeding from at least 2 limbs and you see one next to you, ok so maybe that is a bad place to see a shark :))

They also had all sorts of farm animals, plants (namely giant pumkins (Dad)) and produce Ohio could be proud of, oh and 4H and FFA were both represented in case you are wondering ;). All in all it was really fun and some place kind of "new"; but the people are still really fun to watch -there are some serious crazy out there, but they only keep things exciting!

Fall is BEGINNING

This past weekend I went to one of the most beautiful places I have been to in a long time!! Quabbin Reservoir AAAMAZING!!!! It was a beautiful, crisp, sunny, long sleeve shirt day; perfect weather for walking around a ginormous reservoir. Luckily for Shawn and I we happened upon a ginormous reservoir where we ended up walking at least 7 miles and didn't even make it 1/2 way around, this was the view we turn around at...just breath taking.
When I see scenes like this I can't question the existence of God, His greatness and mercy.

Saturday was Shawn's birthday so the beautiful day can simply be Happy birthday to him and a glorious (as my mother would say) day for the rest of us! So even if these pictures aren't the greatest of me here ya go anyway, what can i say i forgot my sunglasses and as you can see it was crazy sunny!

I'm BACK

So it has been awhile since I last contributed to the whole wide world of blogging. I check people's blogs and I get bugged when i find I'm already "caught up" on their lives...but look who is talking, seriously it has been like 2 weeks. So here is an update!

Went and saw borne ultimatum - laughed the whole time at how over the top it was and the silly love story they tried to slide in there; even though I recommend the movie!

Went to Carson's beach again, love that beach mainly b/c parking is so so so easy and it is close. I got burnt a little on my back but loved every minute of it!

One of the reasons, OK the main reason my back got burnt was Harry Potter 7 I know I am slow, but i was at the end and wanted to lay on my stomach so I could read--I ended up making excuses to stay home for the rest of the day so i could read, I finished it, cried and can I just say... LOVED IT!!

I went to my first Red Sox Game, they played Tampa Bay and the Red Sox won!!!! It was so fun to be inside of FENWAY and see the game and just be there!! So FUN!

I finally did the freedom trail, I have heard of this walk around the city since i moved here and finally had a chance to do it. I didn't realize how long it was though, but still so fun to walk around the city talking with a friend and seeing a little bit of history!

Went and saw Becoming Jane - cute movie, sad, I totally cried even though i was trying to hold it in, so it must have been a great love story.

This past Sunday the love of SPAM was re encountered!!! I forgot how "good" it is; even if it is really really bad for you, at least it taste good! Since i haven't eaten any for over 2 years i think i am good. hehe

Yesterday my friend (I do have one) Shawn and I went to Salem (to check out the witch city; it is appropriate with all the Pottermania) it was 91degrees and we were walking around everywhere. A fun town very quaint and just fun--but that is another blog at another time or if you are really curious send me an email. We decided after about a mile trek in the sweltering heat to get Italian ice; mmmm cold, refreshing and SWEET! I got blue raspberry (do you know why they always have blue raspberry flavor when raspberries are red...I do) and before long it was pointed out that my entire mouth was blue (i don't always take these things into consideration when i order) so i thought i would share some fun pictures...

these were taken simply to see the blueness and redness not for the blog--there wasn't a mirror around. (Shawn's was cherry - red is a much safer color to order, log that for the future).

STRAWBERRY JAM = DOMESTIC GODDESS!!

So Saturday I went to the grocery store trying to stock up (meaning: having more than eggs, yogurt and granola), seriously I haven't bought food for at least 2 weeks! I was walking past the baking section when I passed a display of fruit pectin...I immediately thought back to earlier in the week when I finished off the last of the strawberry jam my sister-in-law gave me and how I put the jar back in the fridge purely out of hope that I could get more off the sides (don't act like you don't know what I am talking about).

I took a box and looked at the back, it said all you needed was fruit (strawberries were on sale 2 for 5, and I already had 2 in my cart) sugar (within arms length) and pectin (in my hand at the moment). How hard can strawberry jam be; I’ve helped make it every summer for most of my life…that is at least 20 times; I can totally do this, I got this (sometimes I need these pep talks...usually it has to do with boys, but I guess domestic challenges are in the same boat...)! So I called Amy and asked to make sure it was really that easy (I just needed confirmation that it wasn’t a trick), and she totally confirmed the box's accuracy! So I took it! I was really excited and thought, “look how domestic I am”.
I’m not kidding I was seriously giddy, it didn’t matter how it turned out, I had the DESIRE to MAKE STRAWBERRY JAM… I couldn’t believe it! I got home and started right into it; IT REALLY IS EASY! I took about 45min and only b/c I read the instructions like 3 or 4 times every time I did a step; even on the second packet. So LADIES & GENT; I am officially turning into a Domestic GODDESS!!! Just thought you should know, in case you missed it ;)!

Egyptian Cotton Sheets!

So on Saturday I had about 5 hours to kill (it started out as 3, but you know how it goes when you are getting your car worked on, they always underestimate the time it is going to take...ALWAYS). I wondered over to a Bed Bath and Beyond to do some browsing; of course I found a few things i NEED and some i defiantly wanted! One of the major wants/justifiable needs were nice sheets (thank you Amy & David for putting the idea in my head that nice sheets are a must have), so i took like a whole hour in the sheet section (mainly because i could) looking at 1000, 800 and 440 thread count sheets these all being incredibly more expensive than anticipated! Who knew sheets could cost SO much! So after a little wondering i found some Egyptian cotton sheets i have heard this "name" thrown around in movies and from those who desire to be ritzy so I did a little testing, they were soft that was for sure; but thought the bamboo selection was much softer! Even with the testing i still decided to go with the Egyptian Cotton what can i say i am a trend follower (I mean everything in movies are true...right); but let me tell you this is a trend to jump on (almost like the blogwagon). I put the sheets on my bed last night and when i was slipping (seriously slipping) into bed they were cool, soft and luxurious!

My question is how did i go this long and not know the joy of Egyptian Cotton?! I was pretty much in heaven when i was in bed! I mean i like being in bed and love to sleep (and have been questioned if it is a hobby, heehe) but this has just improved my sleeping environment by 200%. This is a potential problem considering I have a hard enough time getting out of bed in the morning as is; but this so has to be the best purchase in a long time just thought i would share!

This past weekend was an interesting one…yeah interesting is a “good” word for it. Friday night after work I had to find a Comcast store so to pick up the ever so technical equipment for a DVR and connecting us to the internet. I was actually quite successful and only had to turn around once! After that we picked up an AC, which works great and we got it off craigslist for 35! (love craigslist) Later Friday night I went to a Salsa Club, it is a pretty clean one, which is nice to be able to go dancing and not feel like a piece of meat. All in all a good Friday!

Saturday

Even though I was out late dancing I really needed to get over to the temple b/c it will be closed for the next two weeks. So I got up early (for a Saturday, 8a) b/c we had a Harry Potter Marathon planned for the rest of the day! I stopped by the store on the way home and picked up some serious junk food, I still can’t even believe it! When I got home I found a wicked good parking spot right outside my front door, I was so stoked! (I didn’t even have to drive around to find it either) So for the rest of the day I was inside with the AC running, lights off, snoozing through the previously watched HP movies in preparation for tonight’s new movie! It was a GREAT lazy Saturday! We finished up around 10:30p. Then we started to, frustratingly, try and hook up our new technology… needless to say it was unsuccessfully.

Sunday

Woke up got ready and headed to my car, when I unlocked my door I noticed it was easier than normal, didn’t think any thing of it until I noticed my seat was back further than normal, and then I turned my head and noticed a giant hole in my dashboard where my radio should’ve been. All I could do was gasp! For the first time I have been robbed, so it is official I live in a big city, wow I didn’t realize how violated I would feel by knowing someone I don’t know was in my car. I was bugged at society, but it is probably for the better in the long run. I am putting a better alarm on my car, getting another stereo, and I still have a car, they could’ve easily taken my car, so thank goodness for the small blessings. I still went to church, I mean there wasn’t much I could do but go on with my day. After church I called the police, filled a report and pretty much heard that these are happening all the time, there were over 100 in June alone, so something like this was bound to happen to me. Later that day we went to some friends house and they made us dinner, so nice! Then the guys came over and helped us get our technology up and running! Yah for guys and their ability to make things work! I swear it is natural to them, and I just feel more and more stupid every time I try to set something up! Every time I want to upgrade I buy the equipment and then I say to myself this is why I need a man, I don’t do this sort of a thing. I decide I want some technology and I buy it and then I never install it myself; I just know myself well enough to know that I shouldn’t, b/c something is most likely going to be ruined if I do. Thanks to all the men and women in the world who are able to assist the technology less savvy people!

I just realized i refered to a "we" a lot this can be substituted with me and my roommates. I wish it was simply a significant other, but nonetheless it is simply my fantastic roomies!

Saturday Adventures

Saturday was a glorious day!!! The sun was out, there was a nice breeze, and it was about 80 degrees. I woke up and knew it was a beach day! Carolina and I headed to a beach I heard was good, Carson beach, we were very excited and it was supposedly easy to get to. I googled the directions and we were off. To start off we hit “unforeseen” traffic, and I fully ticked some guy off, he was livid! (I have mass plates so I don’t know what his problem was) He kept honking his horn and throwing his hands in the air and he was the one trying to cut me off. This went on for seriously 15 min. In my defense I was not the instigator for the traffic problems, needless of what he was thinking.

So we moved along through the traffic and we’re really on our way, thinking we are following the directions to the T. All of a sudden the road wasn’t doing what it was suppose to be doing.(not us…of course) We see some stores to our right one of which was Best Buy, we figure we are close so people will know what we are looking for. We went into Best Buy not thinking we were asking for anything difficult; so we ask the first employee we saw by the door, he didn’t know, he calls another guy over, he didn't know either; we ended up asking 4 different guys none of which even knew what we were talking about! But they were like you can google it over on the computers and you can get directions, Brilliant. So we go over to the computers, goggle and print directions to Carsons beach. I don’t know where we took a wrong turn, but that isn't the point of this story, it is if you ever need directions stop at BEST BUY; seriously BEST place to ask for directions! Also, Carson beach was fantastic and it was so so nice to get some SUN!

Side note I am always amazed at how willing men are to help women they don’t know…What happens when they finally get to know us? Not really men are GREAT, just a bad generalization.

So today at work I came in the office and I was immediately busy busy (picture this, glasses on, papers piling, emails streaming in and people stopping by with post-its (I have learned if you see a post-it, watch out, but that is a whole other blog) all by 9:30 (I get in at 9)). In the midst of all this work chaos, what happened, but I got an assignment I was thrilled about! Seriously I was almost giddy are you ready for this...we are doing an event for a company and the theme is Hawaiian Luau, b/c I lived in Hawaii I get to put together/research a list of customs, traditions, foods, anything that would go along with Hawaiian Luau theme plus be very involved in the planning. (As you can see it really doesn't take much to thrill me, hehe) So most of you are thinking this isn't that big of a deal, but seriously just thinking about Hawaii is so fun for me! All the crazy food they eat and all the ONO stuff too! Needless to say I hurried through all my other tasks/projects so that I could look for stuff online, reminisce of Hawaii...so you get a little of this too…

So work is really slow today, as you can tell. My boss is in an all day meeting, so i am trying to keep busy, but my projects keep putting me into a comatose state.

I thought i would give a little update of things going on over in Cambridge and my neck of the woods. I have lived here for almost 10months, can't believe it actually! I work at Hotel @ MIT and am the catering coordinator. It is a good place to work, but i am starting to get pretty antsy and wanting more responsibility; my boss has been very good about helping me gain the experience i want, which is so so nice. It is 92 degrees today and is suppose to be hotter tomorrow....ahhhhh! I can't complain though mainly b/c i complained when it was cold...at least the sun is out and baking away. I did get to go to the beach this past weekend...and we all know I LOVE the Beach even when i find sand the next day in weird places!!!!

My parents left for Cambodia to serve a mission for our church last Monday and they have emailed since saying the arrived safe, and they were suppose to move into their "hut" last weekend. I saw a picture, I don't think i have ever lived in an apartment that nice...hut my butt. It is going to be fun to hear their adventures though. My mom kept telling me before she left, "it is her turn to get on the plane and leave me behind to hear the stories." I am hoping to visit them around Christmas, hello free place to stay in Cambodia, what more could I want!

I turned 25 two weeks ago, I am excited for this year it will be a good one... i can feel it! I can honestly say that it does feel a little different to be 25 instead of 24...very little and it is probably more mental than anything or maybe it was Dave emailing me the day after my birthday letting me know that i was closer to 30 than to 20 now...maybe...thanks for big brothers.

Next topic boys, well it will be short; I have one I am interested in and he is interested in me, but we will see what actually comes of it, and that is all I am going to publish about that. hehe The whole publishing thing makes it a little more permanent than an email...so I won't be quite as open b/c you never know who will read what....ekkk. ;)
